Officially named Frontier 4-Wheelers, we are more commonly known by our DBA: Frontier 4x4 Club. We are a family-friendly 4x4 club that enjoys off-roading. We typically hold at least one weekend trail ride a month, usually on Saturdays, but Sundays are not uncommon.
Our regular meeting location for trail rides is in the parking lot at Murdoch's/McDonald's at Montana and Custer avenues. See our Facebook page for information on our next trail ride.
Everyone with a high-clearance 4x4 is welcome. Please bring a vehicle in good working condition (it does not have to look good) with front and rear recovery points, a spare tire, fire extinguisher, and your personal gear, lunch and appropriate attire. While you should eventually also have your own recovery gear (see "required equipment" link below) members will generally can share their gear with new or prospective members until they know more about what they should have and acquire the gear.
Remember, this is Montana, and even in the middle of summer, we may be wheeling in the snow! We have been snowed on in August and encountered drifts in September.
A Fire extinguisher is required. (SEE THE REQUIRED EQUIPMENT LIST BELOW) The club uses one of two licensed commercial frequencies, which require Business Band radios. As a member, you are highly encouraged to have one. However, that is another item that a member may share for trail rides while you work toward membership. Speak to a club officer for more information on the radios we use.
Club meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month. These are at 7pm at the Pizza Ranch, 3200 N Sanders St, in Helena. We will be in a meeting in one of the rooms in the back, near the game room.
MEMBERSHIP: You must attend two consecutive meetings and one club trail ride before you are eligible to request membership. Membership will be decided by a vote of the current members in good standing.
Club dues are $50 per calendar year (Jan. to Dec.). New members will pay this and present their filled-out membership form (SEE BELOW) at the time of acceptance (vote) as a club member. After that, dues for existing members will be required each subsequent January.
Once you have been accepted as a member, there is no further requirement for meeting or trail ride attendance, but you are, of course, encouraged to attend and participate in selecting future trail ride dates and locations and to participate in the club’s administration.
